The Girl in my book just had a baby at 17, with no husband. She lives in the Victorian era and the villagers were suprisingly accepting of her. Of course the "high society" would not accept it. How does this comapare to modern day teenage pregnancies?
nowadays it is frowned upon to be pregnant at such a young age but it is happening more often than not. so i guess people dont really accept it? but it happens so much that its just becoming an everyday thing.
ReplyDeleteI think people are more accepting of the pregnancy at 17 years old. It happens so often that people are more accepting of it. In child development class at rogersville there were three girls in my class that were pregnant and no body acted any different. I am sure that all the old timers would not be accepted of it though because they are stuck in their old ways and the ways they were taught.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jade in that most people still don't think it is exactly right but they accept it, it the old days that girl might have been shunned or something. I also agree when she says that older people still look down heavily upon teenage girls who are pregnant becasue they grew up in the era where that is just not something that happened often. They don't agree with it and think that teenagers should be able to make the same decisions that they did even though the situations are not the same, I am not saying it is right by any means but they need to understand that this isn't the 1930s anymore and some parents really don't care what their kids do or with whom.
