In Frankie's neighborhood there lives a group of 13-14- and 15 year old girls who
have a club and throw parties on Saturdays with boys and never invite Frankie because she is only 12, and this drives Frankie crazy. She wants to be in their group so bad but can't because the girls won't allow it.
Have you ever been left out of something that you wanted to be a part of because of circumstaces you couldn't control? Like being too young or being a girl, or too short or too tall.... ect.

Summer Time =)
Frankie and John Henry spend all of their summer together, doing just about everything. They play outside, read books, play card games, listen to the radio, just sit around and talk, and cook together. John Henry spends most of his nights at Frankie's house too.
What do you like to do during your summer vacation? Do you spend it with friends or go out of town with your family? Or something else?

Dairy Maid
The girl in my book is going off to her aunts to be a dairy maid. She is started her life all over. If you could only bring 3 to 5 items with you, what would you bring?
Wager
Would you make a wager with someone when they were the judge. In my book these two men make a wager. The wager is that if one of the men does not think that this certain girl is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen then the man would get his golden collar. Would you make a wager with someone when they could just lie to win the wager.

A Boy?
The character in my book decided to ditch the new friends she made since they make horrible choices. Sitting all alone during lunch and not having anyone to talk to in school is no fun for her. She has noticed a cute boy that sits alone at during lunch too but by choice and ignores people when they try to talk to him. She doesn't understand why he would choose to have no friends but she wants to get to the bottom of it. What should be her first step in trying to befriend him?
New Friends.
The main character in my book decided to make some new friends. At first it was going great but now she has realized that they don't have the same values. Her new friends want to party and blow off their responsibilities. She doesn't know what to do... She doesn't want to be surrounded by these types of 'friends' but she knows its to late to go back to her old friends that she abandoned. What would you do in this situation? Be a loner or continue to hang out with them.
Concentration
The main character in my book likes to listen to Orchestra music while she studys case files. What do you do to help you concentrate the best? Eat, listen to music, whatch TV...?
Trusting a Stranger
The main character in my book was just stabbed by a man she trusted and thought was her friend, the man that comes to rescue her is someone she has just metand he says he is a Navy Seal, would you trust him and take his help or not?
John Henry
Frankie has spent all of her time with John Henry, her cousin, because school is out and she has no one to spend her time with.
What family member, or members do you spend all of your time with at holidays, weddings, birthdays... or any other time when your friends can't be there but family can?
What family member, or members do you spend all of your time with at holidays, weddings, birthdays... or any other time when your friends can't be there but family can?
Random Christmas Trees and Soldiers.
In my book, Frankie's cousin John Henry drew all over the kitchen wall when he was bored. He mostly drew random things, like Christmas trees, airplanes and soldiers. On occasion, Frankie drew with him too.
What is something you do to pass the time when you're bored?

Mistaken Identity
As the White Rabbit is running past her, he mistakes Alice for his housemaid, Mary Ann. What if someone was convinced that you were someone else? Would you yet to correct them even if they remained adamant? Or would you just go along with it so they would leave you alone?
Last Days
Alice is lost in the beautiful garden, talking about her dear cat Dinah. She is upset because she doesn't know if she'll ever see her again. If you knew that today was the last day you would see your loved ones what would you want them to know? What would you say to them?
to go or not to go
If your grandmother told you that at the place you were traveling to, a criminal escaped and was on the loose in the area you were headed. She is traveling with you and doesn't want to go where you plan on traveling. Knowing that would you trust what she said or think she is making it all up to get her way? What would you do, continue with your plans or change them?
accident
In my story a family with 2 children get in a car accident, it is not fatal, but scares the family.
Have you ever been in a car crash, if so how did you react?

No Money
If your husband left you with $1.65, five eggs, three beets and three kids, with no job yourself, how would you cope? In my book this happens to a woman, and she asks for help from neighbors, but after awhile starts feeling guilty. If this happened to you, would you be able to accept help from people who are in almost as bad of a situation as yourself?
Going Potty??
My book is set in the 1920s after slavery when there was still segregation. The main characters are traveling on a train for 3 days, and when they stop at stations to use the restrooms or to change trains, some stations don't have toilets for black people. The black women are told they must use the fields across from the station, while men sit and watch them. If you were put in this situation would you use it or what would you do?

Slaves
If someone beat your slave would you be upset? In my book a complete stranger almost beat a slave because he had refused to lead him to his masters house. Would you be upset?
All grown up
What if your parents acted like kids and you had to be the "adult" of the family. like cooking taking care of the children things the parents should do. what would you do? just leave the home and forget them and not worry about what will happen to your siblings or parents? or stay and be unhappy and overworked?

Shame
The Girl in my book just had a baby at 17, with no husband. She lives in the Victorian era and the villagers were suprisingly accepting of her. Of course the "high society" would not accept it. How does this comapare to modern day teenage pregnancies?
Baptism
In my book, this girl's baby daughter is sick and hasnt been Baptized yet. So the mother baptizes the dying baby herself since there is no one else around to help her. This was back in the victorian ages where only preists can baptize, do you think that her baby wouldn't go to heaven if she did or did not baptize her?

Feelings.
In The Memeber of the Wedding, Frankie is being accused of being jealous because her brother is getting married and she doesn't know what to think about that. She says she's not jealous but just can't explain how she feels and no one really wants to listen. What do you do when you can't put how you are feeling into words? Who do you go talk to?
Outcast
In the book that I am reading, The Member of the Wedding, the main character, Frankie, isn't really apart of anything. She isn't in any clubs or ogranizations and doesn't really have any friends. Have you ever thought of yourself as an outcast? Or, if not.. I'm sure everyone knows of an 'outcast'... did you try to befriend them or let them be? why?

Bad Days
Alice is caught at the bottom of the well and she can't get into the beautiful garden behind the small door. Every time she tries to get to the right size she always winds up being either too big or too small. Do you ever have days where nothing seems to go your way? How do you deal with everything going wrong?
Growing Apart.
Do you still have the same friend group from when you were little? If not, why? In my book, the main character has had the same best friend since elementary school. They are starting to grow apart and disagree on whats right from wrong. Is it time for them to spilt up and move on with their lives? Or should they try to save their friendship since they have so many memories built up?
Anxiety.
The girl in my book is suffering from panic attacks and no one can figure out whats causing them. Have you ever experienced anxiety or had a panic attack? If so, what were the reasons that brought it on? Was it because you were to stressed fom school? Sports? Boy problems? Girl drama?

Suicide Day
In my book there is a man who became a member of a very, very small town. This man was very loud, drunk and outrageous, and everyone in the town thought he was crazy, although they knew he had boundaries. He invented a day called Suicide Day, that was every January 3rd. On these days he would go up and down the streets with a cow bell and rope, encouraging people to kill themselves or each other. After a couple of years the townspeople were used to his behaviors and these Suicide Days, and it became apart of their lives, even though they did not take part. If you lived in a small town with a man who behaved like this, do you think you would be able to grow comfortable with him? How would you treat him?
Who Am I???
What do you think you would do if you did not know who you were, you had no past, no personal belongings, and no idea where you were or why you were there? How would you react?
The main character in my book, Darcy, come back from retirement for one assignment. All she has to do is meet with a Russian spy and get the message he has and deliver back to the CIA. He specifically asked for her because they are old friends. When they meet he stabs her and almost kills her. If these people found out she was not dead they would send someone else after her, so she knew she must get to safety. What would you do in this situation, retaliate and go searching for him, or just let it go and worry about getting back home.
Retirement
The main character in my book is a retired CIA agent and she is only 35. What are some of the things you would do if you could retire that early?
Old Europe
Would you like to live in old Europe? My book takes place there and I was just curious as to if anyone would choose to live there?
trust
could you ever trust someone enough to tell them ANYTHING? and when i say anything, i mean if you killed someone, you would tell this person with no problem. and if you could, do you have someone like that now? what would it take for you to trust someone that much?
veryday life
In my book this town in Ohio bases pretty much their whole lives on social conventions. one girl leaves to be different, on her own, and away from the drama. while the other stays and lives the same lifestyle for the next 10 years.... which girl would you be??
The Horse
My charcter in my book just accidently killed her horse, and now her family dosn't have any kind of transportation to keep them going. So they will loose money, food, and transportation. Do you think that it would be ok to sell the horses corpse for only a few shillings, or bury it?
Behavior
Back in the old days children were always polite and quite they listened to their parents and were punished when they misbehaved. Now days children are rude, don't respect anyone and are rarely punished, if ever. In my book there are two young kids who are repeatedly rude to, not only their grandma, but complete strangers. When do you think this bad behavior began to develop and why? How do you think this should be handled?
uh oh....
The character in my book works at this beautiful, big house because her family desperatly needs the money. She can't afford to loose this job. But she is being seduced by the son of the house, and she can feel the danger of it. But she needs that job, and its hard to find any other work that pleases her parents. Do you think she should listen to these red flags about this man, quit her job and go back to her peasant life, or should she just ignore him and continue her work?
Robin Hood
In my book they mention Robin Hood. There have been so many stories about him that do you think there could have been an actual person like this?
BEST FRIENDS
If your best friend was a little slow would you stick up for them? Or would you just let them fight therir own battles?

Curiosity
I am reading Alice's Adventures In Wonderland and Alice has just followed a rabbit down a long tunnel and fallen into a well. Curiosity can make you do all sorts of things that might be a little hazardous to your health. Therefore do you think that being a curious person is a good thing? Or bad?
Secrets about death
what if you witnessed someone die and you and your friend were the only ones around? would you tell anyone? in my book there are two girls who are playing with a little boy who by accident falls in the lake and drowns.

The Last Resort
At the end of mt book Teddy has forgotten who he is and what he's done. Dr. Sheehan and Crawley are forced to send him to have an orbital lobotomy. As his friends they never wanted to have to put him through that. Has there ever been a time in your life when you've been forced to do something that you just absolutely did not want to do because you knew it was going to hurt people that you loved?

Betrayal
Towards the ending of Animal Farm, the new leader, Napoleon sold out one of his dear friends for money. He sent Boxer, the horse to a glue factory and pocketed the cash.
Have you ever sold out a friend for your own benefit? Or, has a friend of yours done something like that to you?

Life after rescue
In my book these boys have been stranded on this deserted island for while. Its the end of the book and this boy Ralph is being chased by the "fun" tribe, and they are going to murder him. Then he runs straight into a navel officer who is there to rescue them from the island. What would you do after you got home, went back to real society, and had to face those boys who killed your friends and tried to murder you?
reaction
How would you react if your dads new wife moved in and started making changes. In my book Alices step mom starts remodeling the house without aking Alice how she feels about it and also bring home a cat even after Alice was told that if they evergot a cat it would be up to Alice if they kept it.

Born Psychotic? Or Revenge?
The man who is Emily's kidnapper was once a father. His daughter was a drug addict, like Emily, but she was killed while in rehab. His reasoning for kidnapping Emily is to help her get better, and to make her his replacement daughter. However, things get way out of control, to the point where Emily's mother is being held at gunpoint by him. Are people like this born delusional, or is it just a matter of fulfilling what once was, or revenge?
National TV
In my book the main character goes missing. The story makes national news and her brother is very excited about this. He starts wanting to be on tv because he thinks it would impress his friends and just be cool. Throughout the whole story he pushes his mom to talk to the press and news media about her missing daughter. Is this understandable or morally wrong?
Disagreement
In Animal Farm, the two 'leaders' Napoleon and Snowball were in such a dispute of a building project on the farm that Napoloen refused to speak to Snowball for quite some time.
Have you ever been so against the decisions of another person that you let it affect your relationship in such way that you didn't speak to them for a long period of time?
What was the situation? How was it resolved, or was it at all?

Family
If your younger brother or sister had Down Syndrome or something birth defect or disablity would you be able to deal with that and help around the house and stuff or would you be embarressed or have better things to do like hang out with friends?
Forgiveness
In my book the mother finds out that the baby she is expecting (Carl Joseph) had Down Syndrome and so her husband got angry and embarressed and left her to raise and provide for both Cody and Carl Joseph and then he came back 17 years later and said he loved Cody and his mother and was proud to call Carl Joseph his son. If this was your family, could you forgive your father?
Reality
What if someone told you that everything you believed was wrong? What if they told you that you weren't who you thought you were? How would you be able to cope with that? Would you be able to believe them?
Situations.
In my book, Hester is put in a situation where she has to keep a secret. Her husband has returned with a new identity, Roger Chillingworth. He has revealed himself only to Hester and has threatened her not to tell anyone. Chillingwoth is plotting against the man that Hester truly loves. The only problem is that she doesn't know if her consquence for revealing Chillingworth's true identity to her 'lover' will be worse than what her husband i planning on doing to him. Should she tell her secret to protect her 'lover' and put herself in danger or let her husband hurt the man she loves?
Exiled.
What would it be like if no one was allowed to talk to you based on the decisions your parents made? In my book the main character is exiled because she became pregnant and the child did not belong to her husband. Not only is she exiled but she must raise her daughter must suffer the punishment as well. How would you react if you were the daughter in this situation?
expectations
have you ever expected something to be so different than what it turned out to be? in my book, Auden goes to spend the summer with her dad and new step mom and baby sister. she wanted so bad for her dad to change, but once getting there, she found out that he had not changed at all, and for the first time, she acctually cared that he didnt spend much time with her. would you be as dissappointed as she is?
new girl.
if you were new in town and a boy found you interesting and wanted to get to know you more, but from what you knew of him, he was no good...would you still talk to him or would you try to stay clear of him?

Abortion
In my book, Julie is pregnant and she doesn't know what to do. She considers getting an abortion, but she doesn't know if it is right. She doesn't agree with it, but she doesn't want people to know her secret.
Without causing an argument...
What is your opinion on abortion?
Without causing an argument...
What is your opinion on abortion?
Children
Having children is a very special thing. Most people plan for a pregnancy for sometime and they wait until they are completely prepared to care for a child. How would you feel if you found out that you were pregnant and at such a young age? Would you tell your parents or keep it a secret? Get an abortion, adoption, or keep the child?
MURDER
One of you friends just got murdered an no one cared. Would you:
a) Team up with the other side so that they wouldn't murder you too.
b) Run away and hide.
c) climb a tree and ambush them.
OR
d) confront them and try to get them to see what they did was wrong.

Suppose
Suppose your husband died, and you dated somebody who wasnt right for you. Then you started dating somebody that was your husbands bestfriend. But it turns out your ex-boyfriend is a stalker. How would you handle that???
Life of Regret
Some believe that the feeling of regret is so powerful, they think it can take over your life and your daily activities. You are constantly thinking of your past and your mistakes and you just can't let go. Do you think regret can control our life or is it only if you let it?
Tribes
Stranded on an island agian, and you have to choose between joining a tribe to have fun and feast, or joining a tribe that is boring, hardworking and is trying on getting off the island with fire and smoke. Keep in mind that the fun tribe will try to kill you. Which one will you choose?
What would you...
What would you tell a run away teenage girl? In my book the main character, Alice, does a story about run aways and for one night her and her friend poses as run aways. They give places the girls can go to and advice. What would you tell the run away girls and do you think you caould/would do this dangerous story to help other girls that were run aways?

Trust
How do you know when you can REALLY trust someone? The main character in my book encounters someone who is suffering from severe paranoia which is making him question the motives of everyone around him. When can you trust someone? Is it possible to trust someone that you've just met?

Something good from hardship
At the end of the story, after Emily and her family is safe, Barbara, Emily's mother, shares with the lead detective that she hopes something good will come out of Emily's life after all the hardship. Have you or someone you know ever experienced something good come from something that caused pain or hardship?
Would you be able to...
In my book, Emily has been accused of murder and is being held as a prisoner by the man who really killed her interventionist. Her mother does everything imaginable to find her daughter, and when Emily manages to escape, her mother finds her at a gas station. However, the kidnapper and murderer finds them both and takes them both. Trish is willing to do everything possible to protect her daughter, to the point that she is being held at gunpoint. I know saying you could do this is easy, but would you really be able to do this for your daughter? I hope that I would be able to.

Career Path
The main male character in my book, Cody Gunner, is a professional bull rider and his former wife who died four years ago was a barrell racer. They traveled the circut together and since she died everytime he goes on tour he carries her with him, would you change careers in order to help you move on or would you stay the same? If you would stay, how would you try to let your spouse go and move on with your life?
Secrets and Lies.
In my book a man has a secret. If he told his secret, he would not only lose his job but also be thrown of his community or maybe even hung. He is a man of God and constantly feels burdened by this secret. He wants to be happy and be with the woman he loves and help raise his daughter, but if he communicates with either one of them then he will be punished by the community. When he finally confesses to the whole community his secret that Pearl is his daughter and he loves her mother, who have both been exiled, he dies right there infront of everyone from the stress he has carried with him. Is this possible?
Revenge
In my book U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is now investigating the mental institution where the man that is responsible for his wife's murder is imprisoned. He's been living in a semi-suicidal state but has kept living just to get revenge. Revenge is such an extraordinary emotion when you think about it. It can cause people to achieve impossible feats. In this way revenge is almost as powerful as love. When a person is so obsessed with the thought of revenge do you think that they lose sight of what made them seek revenge in the first place?
summer vaca.
if your parents got divorced and you moved in with your mom, who has yet to get re-married and your dad and his new wife were living in another state wanted you to come and spend the summer with them, would you even though you dislike your step-mother? how would you deal with the divorce?
Protection
Whats the first thing you think of when you hear, "I lied to you to protect you." Do you really think it is to protect you or to protect the person who is lying?
the end
What if you were informed that you had a disease that couldn't be cured and you knew you were going to die. Would that change the way you lived your life each day? The way you treat others? Would your personality in general change?

Pressure
In my book Julie is being pressured by a boy to have sex. She doesn't agree with having sex at such a young age, but she believes that she really loves him so she falls for the pressure. She knows that what she is dong is wrong and she feels very uncomfortable with her decisions. She continues to go along with everything he wants because it makes him happy.
Do you please the ones you love most, even if you don't agree with them or do you do what you know is best for you even if it hurts them?
Do you please the ones you love most, even if you don't agree with them or do you do what you know is best for you even if it hurts them?
what would you do...
What would you do if one of your friends had cancer? How would you encourage them to not give up hope even if you already have? In my book one of Alices friends has cancer and she talks about how sometimes she does not know what to say to her to help encourage her.

Judgement
In Animal Farm, the animals have proclaimed that everything that 'goes upon two legs is bad', meaning humans. But anything with four legs or wings were accepted as friendly.
Now, not trying to get you to admit too much, but have you ever based your opinion of a group of people on the way they dress, act, or look before getting to know them? Or, if not you, do you know someone who is that way towards others?

Halloween's Pig
This one part in my book remined me of something out of a Halloween situation. The boys killed this huge pig and stuck her head on a stick for the "Beast" that haunts the place at night. And this one boy is being secretly tortured by the head, the head is talking to him, critizing him. I think that its his imagination soaring into some sort of mirage and it's oppressing him.
Do you think that our minds could reach this level of insanity? Is it possible for a person to go insane? Is it possible for a whole nation (Or large group of people) to go insane?
Do you think that our minds could reach this level of insanity? Is it possible for a person to go insane? Is it possible for a whole nation (Or large group of people) to go insane?
Criminally Insane
What makes someone become "criminally insane"? Is it some traumatic event or are they born with some integral part of their psyche missing?
Would you date someone.....
that you knew you only liked because he was older and it made you look cooler? In my book Alice goes to a dance with this boy Tony. Even after her friends told her that he was "fast" she still went with him because he was a senior and she liked the attention. Afterwards she was kind of seeing him but kind of not. Would you do the same?
Guidance
In my book, a young girl has found out that she is pregnant. She she is embarrassed to tell anyone, but knows she can't hide it forever.
If you are going through a difficult time who would you go to for help and guidance and why?
If you are going through a difficult time who would you go to for help and guidance and why?
Could you?
Would you be able to survive if your husband died?? And after he died the dog he had given you died while saving your life, because a stalker was trying to kill you. Could you move on and forget about them, or just mourn about it for the rest of your life?
