Revenge

In my book U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels is now investigating the mental institution where the man that is responsible for his wife's murder is imprisoned. He's been living in a semi-suicidal state but has kept living just to get revenge. Revenge is such an extraordinary emotion when you think about it. It can cause people to achieve impossible feats. In this way revenge is almost as powerful as love. When a person is so obsessed with the thought of revenge do you think that they lose sight of what made them seek revenge in the first place?

  1. I think it defintely does. Once you get to the pont of revenge, it is no longer about the person it started with, in this case his wife, it becomes about you and what YOU want to do to make YOURSELF feel better. Getting revenge won't make his wife come back, only make him do something he will regret. I agree that it is very powerful, if you let it take over, you will do things you wouldn't normally do, it can control the way you act and the things you do.

  2. I think revenge is a way that some people deal with their pain. If a loved-one has died, rather than trying to honor that person and live their life in a way that would make their loved-one proud, they act out in anger and become selfish. So, yes, I think that people who seek revenge do lose sight of their original feelings.
