How would you react?

How would you react if your significant other refered to you as "baggage" or said "Woman! You are the property of the Dread Pirate Roberts and YOU....DO...WHAT...YOU...ARE...TOLD!" I read this in my book and it disturbed me that westley would yell at buttercup like that. Do you think that there is something wrong with with this picture, or is it just simply the time frame?

    I think that it is the time frame but I also think it's wrong. Back then a woman probably was thought of as simply property. I think this still happens even now a days and I think it's awful. I think of myself as equal to men and if someone treated me like that... there would probably be a problem.

    I agree with Pamala, we've all read stories about women being mistreated by men way back when. So, I think it has a lot to do with the time frame that the story was set it.
    But, I do think its wrong. No one should ever be talked to like that, and its sad that treating someone like that used to be the norm just because they were female.
