most people make the instant impression that a person with a lot of tattoos is a bad influence, when in all reality, they could be a really nice person. have you ever made an impression about someone without really knowing what they are like?
I think that at one point or another we all have done that. We don't necessarily mean to stereotype that person but it's just the first impression that you get. I think that society has taught us that normal people will dress a certain way or act a certain way so it has just become the norm to look at people that way. I know that I hate when people make a snap decision about me based on what I'm wearing or on some other criteria, so I try not to make any impressions about people until I actually know them.
Yes. Who hasent 'judged a book by its cover'? For exapmle, recently, I met one of my brother's best friends. At first glance he looks like someone who wouldn't be very approachable. He's covered in tattoos and doesn't really say much. At first, I was a little scared to even talk to him, but after awhile I discoverd he is incredibly friendly and really funny. I felt bad for being so quick to assume. Lesson learned.
Well bethy kay we all know what happens when we assume things.... but I guess we all do that to ourselves at one time or other... But yes I'm pretty sure I do this every day of my life, which now makes me feel like a horrible person :( but it is true that when you see someone like that we all have our own opinions on the way that looks and how acceptable we think it is, but then that same person I am judging could be doing the same thing to me. Maybe while I think someone is scary looking, they may see me as a snob or something which is just the same as I was to them. They may jump to conclusions just as I had done. Either way it isnt right, but I think we all do it every now and then.
Everyone does that at one point or another. Just think about when there is a new kid in school everyone talks about well she looks like an athlete or a slut or he looks cool or we talk about what a nerd that kid is. High School can be the worst time to make those kind of assumptions. One of those girls I thought those things about is now a really good friend of mine, even though when she first moved here I didn't want anything to do with her.
