Strangers
Do you remember how it felt when a complete stranger was watching over you? Your parents left you with someone you dont know. Didn't your parents always say dont talk to strangers and now here you are with a stranger and with their permission? I can imagine for a child this would be confusing, what is your opinion on this subject?

ReplyDeletewell, since we've established that we're talking about babysitters here, then no. I've never been babysat by a stranger. I have been babysat by relatives that I didn't really know that well when I was younger, so at the time, they definitely seemed like strangers to me, but I knew that the person and I were related to I was too concerned.
ReplyDeleteBut, I can see how this would be confusing for a child. Its kind of like that whole 'say one thing and do another' thing.
I mean a babysitter! Someone your parents know but you dont! my bad!
ReplyDeleteWell I never had a baby sitter so I never had to worry about creepy strangers watching me. But I remember when I would meet new people and I always liked meeting them. It was something new and different than what I was used to, which probably meant that I thought they were better than everyone that I already knew. I was a very fickle little kid.
ReplyDeleteI have never been watched by a stranger. But yeah I get the point that it does kind of contratdict itself. It confuses the child to where they do not know who they can or can not talk to. If I were a parent I would get someone that my kid and I both knew to watch over my kid. That way it is less confuseing for the kid.
ReplyDeleteI can see how this would be confusing to a little kid. But as long as their parent takes them to the babysitter tells the child that its okay and to have fun, then I don't think it would be a problem. The do not talk to strangers guildline is more for like when someone you don't know walks up to you in a grocery store and asks if you want to help them find their lost dog.
