I would do my best to get him/her out. Whatever I could I would try it. Somemtimes people do get shocked and don't know what to do. I don't know if I am one of those people because I've never been in such a life-threatening situation before. I would imagine I wouldn't think and just go and do something, anything rather than nothing.
