Footprint

Ok so in Robbinson Crusoe, Crusoe comes upon a human footprint in the sand after so many years of being isolated on a deserted island. There aren't any ships to indicate that the print got there by a large boat or ship. The only explaination is that he came from the faroff land across the sea, (a place that might inhabit cannibals). Would you run away back to your fortress frightened, or would you search desperately for that only piece of human contact that you haven't had in forever?
