I think I would probably go to the police first and if they didn't do anything I move to another city and hope they don't follow. Nice spelling by the way Amanda! lol!
I'm not sure what I would do...Picking up and moving to another city sounds easy if you were put in that situation, but I don't think it would be that simple. What about your job, family, school, or maybe if you had signed a year lease on the apartment your renting? You can't just pack up and leave everything behind, especially when you don't know if that will fix the problem. I'm sure your stalker would notice you moving if he/she was a devoted stalker. And going to the police would be step one, but they take forever to get things accomplished, so what would you do in the mean time? Personally, I have no idea what I would do.
I know that I spelt it wrong...i did that on purpose. But most of you are really close to what Julie did in my book. She went to the police then moved out of town. But what she didnt think about was the fact that he could change his appearance and talk to the people who knew where she was. He had done it once before and he wasnt afraid to do it again
I am with Alli. I would say that you could get a restraining order but the police only let you get one against someone if they have done something to you. I guess if I had to choose between the two, I would just move way because the police won't do something until the stalker does something to you.
Wow! If I had a stalker I would definitely cry! I would probably leave town for a while and stay at a close friend or family's house until I felt safe and secure again. I would try to go back home and see if things are normal again and if they were the same and I still had a creeper following me then I would contact the police and see what they could do about my predicament.
having a stalker is a tough thing to think about personally...its hard to say what i would do since i am not in that situation as we speak. i guess i would solely rely on my dad. i know that he would know what to do..like go to the police. but i know that i would never want to be alone, i would always keep someone around me and not want to go out at night. and packing up and moving away is a big decision to make b/c sometimes you cant just leave everything behind and the person is very likely to follow you...and a restraining order is just a peice of paper...it cant make anyone do anything.
If I had a stalker I wouldn't move to a new town, I agree with Alli, that would do little good... with how easy it is to track anyone using the Internet and cell phones, moving would only cause a bigger headache for the person being stalked. I'm sure going to the police would do more good than doing nothing at all, but the problem wouldn't be istantly solved, it could take months. Unless the stalking had turned into a major ordeal, like the stalker were trying to physcically hurt you, I really don't think much could be done at all regardling the police. There really is no easy solution to this problem.
